Think and Grow Rich Summary: Complete 13 principles | Napolean Hill

Think and Grow Rich Summary talks about all the amazing 13 principles from the book in a clear and concise way.

It is written by Napoleon Hill, one of the greatest self-help books of all time. According to many sources, more than 100 million copies of this book have been sold to date.

The author had taken more than 30 years in interviewing people like Andrew Carnegie, Henry Ford, Thomas Alva Edison, and 500 other great influential leaders in order to find out what made them successful.

The entire book is divided into 13 principles and this Think and grow rich summary talks about these principles in detail.

Desire

There are two ways of getting a task done. One when you are so fascinated about the goals that you work towards completing it and the other where you are worried about the consequences of not completing the task.

There are five things that the author says that people should have a strong mindset about.

  • Career: Think of what you want to achieve and the time frame for that. Define and write at one place your both STP (short-term plans) and LTP (long-term plans).
  • To lead first: Whom do you want to lead and why?
  • Money: How much money do you want to acquire and how will you utilize it?
  • Failure: What will you do if failure overtakes you?
  • Other people’s desires: Do you wish to achieve your goals by fulfilling other people’s desires?

Key takeaway -”The starting point of all achievement is desire. Weak desires bring weak results, just as a small fire makes a small amount of heat.”

Faith

Faith is one of the most important points of success. According to the author, this faith can be induced only by creating repeated instructions to the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is very big and powerful but is controlled by the conscious mind.

You should encourage positive emotions and eliminate negative emotions in your mind. You should never stop trying to achieve your goals. You should be willing to serve others, which in turn will get others to serve you.

Find examples of people who are where you want to be and use their examples as a way to keep your faith strong and remind yourself that your desire is possible to attain.

Autosuggestion

Through continuous recitation of our thoughts and desires as mentioned, we can acquire our control over decisions by training our subconscious mind. You should be repeating daily towards subconsciously influencing your thoughts and actions. These thoughts should be:

  • Have the ability to achieve your desired purpose.
  • You promise to take action to achieve them by training your subconscious mind to understand them
  • You promise to dedicate your time to ensure that these thoughts turn into reality

Key takeaway -”You become what you think about.”

Specialized Knowledge

For your desires to be converted to money or a physical product you need to be specialized in the domain that you are looking for. This knowledge can be gained by reading books, attending seminars or watching lectures of the greatest pioneers in that field. This principle doesn’t need more explanation as everyone knows the importance of having knowledge in the fuel that we are wishing to excel in.

Key takeaway – “Don’t wait. The time will never be just right. Start where you stand, and work whatever tools you may have at your command and better tools will be found as you go along.”

Imagination

According to the author, there are two types of imagination.

  • Synthetic imagination:

This Imagination includes ideas of arranging old concepts or plans into new sets of combinations of plans and desires to be fulfilled.

  •  Creative imagination:

This imagination includes where ideas come from (“infinite intelligence”) and “hunches” and “inspirations” are received.

Key takeaway – “Whatever your mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”

Organized Planning

planning

Once you have your desire and have specialized knowledge in that particular domain, you need to have an organized plan to carry that plan forward and achieve success. You cannot achieve success without a predetermined plan

Key takeaway –   “A goal is a dream with a deadline.”

Decision

Decision-making must be wise and clear. You must not doubt the decision that you make. The greatest enemy here is procrastination. Every man just tries to conquer it.

Key takeaway –   “Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire and begin at once, whether you are ready or not, to put this plan into action.”

Persistence

This key point is well highlighted in this Think and Grow Rich summary. One of the major reasons for failure is the absence of persistence.

The basis of persistence is the power of will, and it’s also influenced by other factors, such as Definiteness of purpose, Self-reliance, Definiteness of plans, accurate knowledge, Cooperation, and Habits.

You need to know which of the above ones you are lacking in.

Lack of persistence will lead to the following insecurities: Procrastination, Lack of interest, Indecision, Weakness of desire, Willingness to quit, Lack of organized plans, and Fear of criticism

Authors suggest four ways to develop a sense of persistence

  1. Have a definite purpose, which is backed by an unquenchable thirst and desire for its fulfillment.
  2. Make a definite plan which is expressed in continuous action.
  3. Stay away from all negative and discouraging influences.
  4. Stay accountable to people who will guide and support you to follow through with your plan and purpose.

Key takeaway –   “Most great people have achieved their greatest success just one step beyond their greatest failure.”

Power of the Mastermind

The goal of a mastermind is to convert knowledge into power, by organizing it into definite plans, and then translating plans into action.

The power of the mastermind is to successfully use it in the pursuit of money. It should be mixed with faith, desire, and persistence. It must be applied through a plan, and that plan must be set into action.

Everyone wishes for riches but only a few know that a definite plan and a burning desire for wealth is the only dependable way of accumulating wealth.

Key takeaway – “No two minds ever come together without, thereby, creating a third, invisible, intangible force which may be likened to a third mind”.

The Mystery of Sex Transmutation

Sexual impulse is one of the most important desires we experience as human beings. Through this, we redirect those sexual energies towards other objectives like enhancing our positive thoughts, creative imagination, in the pursuit of those objectives as a result.

The Subconscious Mind

The subconscious mind is the connecting link between human beings’ finite mind and nature’s infinite intelligence.

As mentioned earlier the subconscious mind is used for transmuting your desires into their physical or monetary equivalent. However, if you fail to plant your own desires into it, you will eventually fail.

According to the author, there are 7 major positive emotions to gain control over your subconscious mind: Desire, Faith, Love, Sex, Enthusiasm, Romance, Hope.

Also, there are 7 major negative emotions to avoid in order to shield your subconscious mind from acting: Fear, Jealousy, Hatred, Revenge, Greed, Superstition, and Anger.

Eventually, your task is to dominate your mind with positive thoughts so that negative thoughts have no space to flee in.

Key takeaway – “Success comes to those who become success conscious.”

The Brain

Our brain is a transmitter and receiver of frequencies. The first step of success is feeding your brain with wealth, success, and positive thoughts, but how do you think you can release this kind of thought?

Thoughts are released by mind vibration. You can increase your mind vibration in many ways like listening to music, making love but the most effective method is “Sex”.

Key takeaway – “A positive mind finds a way it can be done; a negative mind looks for all the ways it can’t be done.”

The Sixth Sense

The understanding of the sixth sense comes by meditation or by continuous brainstorming.

Once you’ve mastered the sixth sense, you will be able to receive warnings and understand the difficulties, and get notified of opportunities in time to embrace them.

However, the sixth sense will not function if you’re not clear and if fear remains in your mind.

According to the author, the 6 basic fears are; Poverty, Criticism, Ill Health, Loss of love, Old age, Death. However, there’s also a 7th ‘enemy’ that is susceptibility to negative influences. To protect yourself from this enemy, you have to

  • Your willpower should be constant until you build
yourselves a shield against negative influences in your own mind.
  • Seek company from people who influence your
way of thinking and act positively.
  • Have control over your thoughts in order to influence your subconscious mind too.

Fear is just a state of mind. It is subject to control and direction. Use this knowledge to your advantage.

Key takeaway – Man’s thought impulses begin immediately to translate themselves into their physical equivalent, whether those thoughts are voluntary or involuntary.

Now that you are familiar with all those 13 principles. Lastly, make a point of all the takeaways from this Think and Grow Rich Summary with this being said let us conclude.

Conclusion:

The author says “It takes half your life before you discover life is a do-it-yourself project. Also, it is literally true that you can succeed best and quickest by helping others succeed.

“Success is good at any age, but the sooner you taste it, the longer you will enjoy it.”

The formula for success as you receive from this Think and Grow Rich Summary is

Desire + Ideas + Plans + Massive Action = Success

And always remember these words of the author – “Never quit. Never give up. Focus. Seek help. Make new connections. Take different approaches. Seek additional resources to help you improve your job search skills. Persist and find people who can help you to achieve your goals”.
